For the first time, Adult DVD Empire customers can download their choice from among 500 adult titles to watch on their computers at DVD quality, the Empire announced September 15.
“A lot of people offer VOD these days," said adult operations director Mike Barry, announcing the downloads, "and we feel that it is important to set ourselves apart from the pack by offering the highest quality product available.”
The titles are encoded at 1400K bitrate at 30 frames per second, the Empire said, the better to guarantee optimal image quality. Meaning, the Empire continued, that when users see it at 720x540 screen resolution, the video quality is just like a DVD.
The downloads cost $14.95 per, and the Empire plans to add more titles daily to the option. Users get a 30-day viewing period for each movie.
