Adult Companies Join Hurricane Relief Effort

Several adult companies joined the Hurricane Katrina relief effort today, and one of them, Angel Pictures International, challenged others to do the same.

Angel Pictures, Shane’s World, DNA, Extreme Associates, Evolution Erotica and D&E Productions all indicated they were sending funds to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the deadly hurricane that has affected hundreds of thousands of people in New Orleans and Mississippi. Dane Productions, along with Joe Friday, began a canned food drive on Wednesday.

Thousands are homeless and desperate as a result of the hurricane, which was one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history.

Angelique, president of Angel Pictures, challenged the industry to help by sending a donation or other resources to the Red Cross.

“With everything that’s been said on the news, all the devastation, all the families, I think it’s important as human beings that we help each other,” she said. “We’re one of the small guys and we are making a donation, and I challenge every other company to do the same or better. I would like to urge every company to help and show that this isn’t such a negative industry. It can be larger or smaller, whatever you can do. I think if everybody pulls together we can make a difference.”

Shane’s World Studios, best known for their college party videos, said that all sign-ups to shanesworld.com made over the Labor Day weekend will be donated to the Red Cross. Every penny of the $24.95 join will go to the relief.

“This is a disaster of epic proportions and we felt that we needed to do something to help,” company co-owner Jennie Grant said. “I hope that other companies will do the same.”

DNA’s Dennis D. teamed up with Rob Black of Extreme Associates and Evolution Erotica to send financial support to the Red Cross. Black said that his father who lives in Florida is a strong supporter of the organization, especially due to the help that it provided during a hurricane last year that damaged his parents' home.

“The Red Cross would come by with the truck and food and water," Black said. "Their house got fucked up but it wasn’t like the New Orleans people. So since then my Dad’s real big on the Red Cross.”

D&E, meanwhile, said Thursday that a percentage of its proceeds this month would be donated to the Red Cross. David Adamson said that “our proceeds will be donated from our membership site located at www.allboysvideo.com and our retail site located at www.dandevideos.com and any wholesale orders we normally receive for this month.

“We have been lucky in South Florida and although we were slightly affected by the storm our neighbors to the north of us were not so lucky and unfortunate many lives have been destroyed including major property damage leaving thousands and perhaps millions homeless.”

Meanwhile, Epassporte, Jettis and WEGcash have also joined forces to send aid. In partnership with the Red Cross, Epassporte, Jettis and WEGcash launched www.webmasters4america.com. The companies say the website makes it easy for the industry to help support those affected. They developed this program and each company is also contributing greatly to the fund raising effort.

WEGcash is matching the individual donations made, up to $40,000. Jettis donated $10,000 and Epassporte is waiving transaction fees on Epassporte.

Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P. O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.red cross.org.
