Adam & Eve has acquired a stake in Van Nuys-based Tightfit Productions, giving the fledgling gonzo production house access to the larger firm’s production and distribution resources.
The deal, signed over the weekend, gives Tightfit a marketing edge by placing its titles on Adam & Eve’s catalog, its brick-and-mortar stores as well as its overall worldwide distribution network.
“I had really no interest in partnering with anyone and they’re really impressed with our innovation, our content and our boxes and it really was a mutual interest that blossomed in just a few months,” said Tightfit president Oren Cohen, who founded the company last September. He also heads Lucky Media, which produces compilation titles.
“This (deal) will give us a versatility and strength in the marketplace that we didn’t have before. But we’ll still be autonomous and do what we’ve been doing.”
Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Adam & Eve is very excited about the merger," said Katy Zvolerin, director of public relations for Adam & Eve. "We are looking forward to working with Oren, utilizing a lot of his marketing skills and innovations. We believe the Tightfit line appeals to a large part of our audience but we also see a huge future growth in the partnership."
The move also means Tightfit will ramp up production from four titles per month to eight, Cohen said.
Tightfit is known for releases such as Asian Mayhem, starring Mika Tan, Ambushed, with Monica Sweetheart and Afterhours with Penny Flame.
The company is scheduled to release Afterhours 3 with Eva Lopez on Friday.
