"Thank you, Primetime!" That's the prevailing sentiment today at Adam & Eve Pictures as they begin to ship big numbers of The Temp starring Sophia Lynn.
"We have a huge hit on our hands," Peter Reynolds, vice-president of sales and marketing, told AVN.com.
The Temp is Adam & Eve's first release with their short-lived contract exclusive, a former Sunday school teacher from Tampa, Florida, whose brief and mostly unhappy tenure in porn was depicted on ABC's 'Primetime: The Outsiders', broadcast March 13.
Lynn was shown flaking out on Adam & Eve at the last AVN Adult Expo, missing scheduled appearances at a booth adorned by a poster of herself with fellow exclusives, Carmen Luvana and Ava Rose.
Ever since the telecast, which portrayed the adult industry in a somewhat less unfavorable light than usual (acknowledging, for instance, that Lynn's drug problems predated her porn career), the Adam & Eve website has been flooded with emails inquiring about movies with the blonde ex-starlet.
"The program created a huge surge of interest in Sophia, and in us," Reynolds said, citing the reaction as proof of the old adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity.
He added that it's ironic that Adam & Eve should be involved in a TV controversy, "because no company strives more to set a positive example in the way we present our product and treat our talent."
Adam & Eve has three more titles with Lynn in the can, and all are expected to benefit from the Primetime publicity when they eventually get released.
