A week after the patent claim terms portion of the pre-trial Markman hearings between several adult Internet companies and Acacia Research Corp., Acacia announced it signed the parent of Capella University to a license for Acacia’s controversial streaming media patent group, known as Digital Media Transmission.
Capella is an online academy offering degree programs in business, technology, education, human services, and psychology, serving an estimated 10,000 adult learners in 50 U.S. states and over 50 other countries.
The deal makes for the 121st DMT license signed by Acacia since 2002, including adult entertainment, hotel in-room entertainment, online music and learning, film, sports, news, and corporate advertising and promotion.
