AVN Media Network announced today that the gay XXX industry's biggest night of the year, the GAYVN Awards 2007 ceremony, will be held for the first time in San Francisco, California.
The awards, open to the public for the first time in five years, will be held on February 24, 2007, at the landmark Castro Theater.
"I'm so excited that we're moving the next GAYVN Awards show to San Francisco!" said Doug Lawrence, GAYVN Editor. "We'd been trying to think of different ways to outdo last March's overwhelming success at West Hollywood's Rage Nightclub, and suddenly, we just said, 'San Francisco!' The city is gay friendly and gay-porn friendly, and most of the big gay XXX-video companies are headquartered there. What could be better?"
"San Francisco has a rabid porn fan base and the cultural propensity to host a world-class awards show that can succeed beyond limited nightlife venues. We'll treat the GAYVN’s like the Olympic Games and NakedSword will be the event's NBC," said Tim Valenti, President and CEO of NakedSword.com, one of the 2006 event sponsors and red carpet host with the Tim and Roma Show.
“This annual event has grown substantially and consistently over the past few years in West Hollywood. However, we felt that the next step in our effort to continue the growth of this event and generate excitement was to change the city in which it will be held,” stated Chad Beecher, VP of Business Relations, AVN. “The wide choice of venues and amenities that San Francisco offers really gives us the opportunity to take this event up to the level we planned for in 2007!”
Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis, said Beecher. For sponsorship and advertising information and pricing, please contact Jeff Rosenberg at 818-718-5788 x128 or via email at [email protected].
Because the date of the show is moved forward two weeks from its traditional March date, the new cut-off date for 2006-released movies to be considered for nominations is December 15, Lawrence said. Additional nominations, travel, and general information will be posted on GAYVNawards.com in the coming weeks.
