Last Friday, ABC’s 20/20 news program sought to set the public straight on ten myths about sexuality, including the myth that women don’t like porn, in a segment named "Sex: Myths, Lies and Straight Talk"
Vivid Entertainment and Digital Playground were cited as two companies already creating adult fare with a female audience, with 20/20 noting, “They claim they're breaking the gender barrier with a softer, more sensual product that's still got plenty of explicit sex.”
Playgirl TV, an Adult channel for women, was represented by director Kelly Holland, who argued that porn can be effective as an aphrodisiac for women if the stigma of watching it can be overcome — and assuming it’s shot with women in mind.
"This is the battleground for the feminist movement. And I'm here to bring the battle on," Holland said.
Evolutionary anthropologist Helen Fisher told 20/20 that women tend to enjoy adult material if the sexuality is put in context; in other words, features compared to gonzo.
