1 Distribution Adds Dead Guys Cinema

Sam Manning, co-owner with Kevin Zernickow of 1 Distribution, announced the addition of the Dead Guys Cinema line to 1's stable of wholesale listings. Though gay, Dead Guys is not a triple-X company. This is the first non-explicit line that 1 represents.

According to a press release issued by 1, Dead Guys Cinema "is the premier producer of 'queer tinged' horror/thriller movies, having made a name for itself creating full-length films with a distinctly alternative, sometimes gritty, underground edge."

"Each movie features a cast of attractive young men who eventually find themselves in dangerous, even deadly, situations," the release notes. "Likewise, plot lines continually push the envelope in terms of subject matter, often involving such taboo subjects as erotic asphyxiation, knock-out fetishes — even necrophilia — but they always stop short of hardcore explicitness."

1 Distribution’s initial releases from the company are Zombies and the Special Edition DVD of Dead Guys. The original version of Dead Guys, a "gay horror spectacular whose body count includes hustlers, exotic dancers, college students, a pizza boy, and a corporate lawyer," was released in 2000. The Special Edition DVD contains over an hour of never-before-seen footage and a soundtrack featuring some of today's hottest gay musical artists, Manning said, adding, "TLA described Dead Guys as 'one of the most over-the-top homo horror movies we've seen.'"

Zombies is set in a world where a group of handsome killers, known as zombies, lives only to seduce and prey upon innocent men. Manning describes the movie as a "riveting combination of violence, romance, seduction, revenge, and gay male blood lust."

Both movies are available to wholesalers now.

With the acquisition of wholesale distribution rights to Dead Guys Cinema, Manning says that he is also seeking "other independent, gay, mainstream film companies that are dedicated to producing gay-interest or softcore homoerotic features, music videos, short films, and X-Games with hot guys," as well as politically-oriented films espousing liberal messages.

“We’re in the market to distribute their films in DVD format,” Manning said. He noted that 1 Distribution is also eager to help its companies with all phases of manufacturing.
