Screw Magazine Launches ‘Screwcast’ Roku Streaming App

JERSEY CITY, N.J.Screw magazine has launched Screwcast, a new streaming app for the Screw Network that allows users to stream adult entertainment directly to Roku devices over a home Wi-Fi network.

“Built around privacy, convenience and personal choice, Screwcast lets viewers browse content on their phone or computer and instantly cast it to the television in the comfort of their own homes,” a Screw rep said.

"We talk about freedom of speech every day," said Phil Italiano, publisher of Screw magazine. "I believe we also have the inalienable right to freedom of entertainment. Adults should be free to choose what they watch, where they watch it and how they watch it, responsibly and privately in their own homes, using the devices and services we pay for. That's exactly what Screwcast was built to do.”

Unlike cloud-based sharing platforms, Screwcast communicates with the user's Roku device across the user's own local Wi-Fi network, creating a viewing experience that does not require complicated setup or additional hardware.

Screwcast is available today as a free download for Android and Google Chrome, via a free browser extension for desktop PCs and Macs, macOS and iPhone/iPad users, through the Orion Browser.

A native iOS application is currently in development and is slated for release this fall.

Access for Screwcast requires the Screw TV Roku channel with a $9.99 per month subscription for early adopters. Subscriptions will increase to $19.99 per month as more content is added to the network.

At launch, Screwcast streams content directly from ScrewNetwork.com, including Screw Network's growing catalog of original productions, licensed partner and affiliate content, classic videos, trailers and some exclusive programming.

“As the user base grows, Screw Network expects to expand the service by inviting studios, content creators and independent publishers to integrate their own websites with Screwcast," the rep said. “Integration has intentionally been kept simple, requiring only a single line of code for participating websites to enable Roku casting.”

"Our goal isn't to build another closed platform," Italiano added. "Studios have invested years building their own audiences. We want to help them reach the television with almost no development work while allowing consumers to enjoy content more comfortably and more privately than ever before."
