LOS ANGELES—OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, will be rolling out an "adult mode" for its flagship artificial intelligence platform in the first quarter of 2026, the company's head of applications shared on Thursday of last week.
Fidji Simo, the company's CEO for Applications, confirmed to The Verge and other outlets during a news briefing on the company's latest GPT release that "adult mode" will debut in the first months of next year, noting that developers are in the early stages of programming new features like age prediction for users.
Sam Altman, chief executive officer of OpenAI, announced to his followers on X this past October that his company's popular artificial intelligence client, ChatGPT, will soon allow mature content, including "erotica for verified adults," per AVN's reporting.
