VARNA, Bulgaria—Bulgaria is one of those formerly Communist countries that tolerate the distribution of pornography, and even allow it on television late at night, but production is illegal. Two Dutchmen have reportedly learned that fact the hard way.
According to Sapa-AFP, the two men, aged 26 and 28, and a 19-year-old Bulgarian woman have been arrested in the coastal town of Varna on charges of producing porn for internet consumption. Several other people at the hotel, including some employees, have been interviewed by police.
They had reportedly converted two rooms in a hotel into a makeshift production studio. A search turned up pay slips to girls who had been filmed by the men, said the news agency.
News reports say the men could face up to a year in jail if found guilty. The case apparently has such significance that, according to the reports, the country's interior minister made the announcement of the arrests.
