TEMPLE CITY, Calif. - Forplay Inc., creator of high-end fashion lingerie and known for its revealing Halloween costumes, has announced that the company is venturing into the plus-size market. In August, Forplay is set to debut six new styles of Halloween costumes for full-figured women.
The decision came after much research, according to Merchandise Manager Primrose Boon, who explained to AVN Novelty Business magazine what inspired the company to enter the plus-size niche. "After researching the [plus size] market, it turns out the market growth will increase by almost 40 percent by 2012," she said. "A lot of new, sexy apparel lines and urban brands have joined the industry due to the high demand for sexy lingerie in a plus-size offering. We decided to test the market with one of our strongest categories and provide this size range within our Halloween collection."
Boon also stated the lingerie manufacturer chose six of its best-selling designs for the first of the plus-size line. "We are always meticulous with fabrication and construction for our clothing to meet our high standards of quality and fit," she continued. "Since this is our first year bringing in the plus sizes, you could only imagine the special care we’ve invested in these six styles."
The new line includes Mafiosa, a pinstriped dress with built-in corset; Miss Bonnie, Forplay’s most popular gangster costume; Police Playmate, the classic cop costume; Flamin’ Firefighter, a long-sleeve zip dress with an A-line cut; Lady Death, a long-sleeve gown with hood and blood-red lining; and Mesmerizing Maid, a modern-day version of in-style cleaning.
To date, the response has been positive, and Boon confessed the company could even go into discussions as to which other categories could expand into the plus-size market. All six styles will be available for wholesale through Forplay’s catalog, online, and in retail stores by mid-August. For more information, contact Forplay’s corporate office at 626-401-1682.
