Doc Johnson Marks 35 Years

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.Doc Johnson was born in 1976 when founde rRon Braverman purchased a very small company that sold adult toys along with gag novelties and rubber fishing items. Since then, the Doc Johnson brand has grown and evolved, but one thing that has remained constant is a strong commitment to American manufacturing.

In the beginning, Doc Johnson’sNorth Hollywoodfactory was just 1,500 square feet with nine employees. Eventually, the company moved around the corner to its present locations and secured a 33,000-square-foot building. Doc Johnson now has a family of more than 500 people, occupies more than 250,000 square feet, and proudly offers a catalogue of almost 10,000 products.  It is the one of the largest sex toy companies in the world, and while business has shifted overseas for some products, the majority of Doc Johnson products are still “Proudly Made in the USA.”

Another theme that has remained constant in the history of Doc Johnson is an emphasis on nurturing employee relationships. Founde rRon Braverman said, “Many members of our team have been here for over 20 years, some for over 30, and even some from the beginning 35 years ago. Personally, it makes me proud to have a family of people that I look forward to working with every day.”

In recent years, Doc Johnson has increased its PR focus to include a dedicated marketing department, and has also brought its entire art department in-house. This year has brought many positive changes and much growth for Doc Johnson, which has only increased the energy and inspiration of the staff. These changes coincide with the development of a new user-friendly flagship Doc Johnson website (DocJohnson.com) that will continue to improve over the next few weeks prior to its official launch in September, as well as the development a new promotional tool on the horizon for early next year that is likely to revolutionize the industry.
