Adam & Eve Spotlight Industry Execs for Women’s History Month

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.—Pioneering adult retailer Adam & Eve profiles leading adult product industry CEOs for Women’s History Month, in March, highlighting the female executives' contributions to industry innovation in their roles at some of the top adult wholesale and retail companies.

The curated spotlights can be viewed at AdamEve.com. Executives highlighted by Adam & Eve include:

• Susan Colvin, founder, CalExotics
• Alexandria Fine, co-founder and CEO, Dame
• Hashti Nazem and Afshan Dosnai, co-CEOs, Kindra
• Ti Chang, co-founder and director, Crave
• Shay Martin, owner and CMO, Vibratex

Under Colvin’s leadership, CalExotics became a pioneering adult product manufacturer “with a simple mission: to make sex toys better, especially for women and couples. She worked with an all-female development team to produce bold, powerful new options in fresh styles,” the profile reads.

“CalExotics pioneered introducing feminine colors into massagers. They also offered manufacturer warranties to back up the quality of CalExotics products—unheard of at the time. Together, Susan and her team became the first to produce lines of waterproof toys and premium silicone toys. Their commitment to innovation and research also led them down some wild paths: they made a talking vibrator and even a solar-powered bullet.”

Dame CEO Fine, who has a Master’s degree in clinical psychology, imagined “sex toys that would help close the pleasure gap between men and women. While studying products in maker spaces, she connected with MIT engineer Janet Lieberman. Janet was just as enthusiastic about elevating the pleasure experience with high-quality design and innovation.”

Dame’s “Eva” hands-free, wearable vibe was the most successfully crowd-funded sex toy product in history, according to the profile.

At Kindra, where Nozem and Dosani both started at the company as its first hires, “they’ve always been by women, for women. Founded to support those through the hormonal changes of menopause, Kindra’s commitment to scientific testing, quality, and innovation have earned them rave reviews and fans the world over.”

Crave is known for its high-end sex toy jewelry including the Vesper necklace, “worn by celebrities like Madonna, Janet Jackson and Gwyneth Paltrow. Many of Ti Chang’s designs have gone on to garner international acclaim and awards, continuing Crave’s mission to challenge stigma, invite conversation, and promote self-expression and exploration.”

Finally, at Vibratex, with its classic Magic Wand brand vibrating massager, CEO Martin carries on the legacy of her parents, who originally founded the company in the 1970s. Since then, Vibratex continued industry-changing innovations with the development of the Rabbit Perl vibrator, famously featured on late ‘90s HBO series Sex and the City, thus raising awareness of adult products for mainstream consumers.
