OnlyFans Institutes Criminal Background Checks Via Checkr

LOS ANGELES—OnlyFans will start conducting criminal background checks for new adult content creators on the platform, the company's CEO recently revealed.

Keily Blair, the chief executive officer of OnlyFans, made the announcement on LinkedIn, touting a new partnership with a company that says it offers instantaneous background checks to ensure that content creators in the United States aren't convicted of violent criminals as part of the onboarding process.

"I am very proud to add our partnership with Checkr Trust to our onboarding process in the US," Blair said.

Checkr Inc., the company behind the Checkr Trust SaaS product, presents itself as a provider of "instant access to criminal record and identity checks in just a few clicks."

"Checkr, Inc. helps OnlyFans to prevent people who have a criminal conviction which may impact on our community's safety from signing up as a Creator on OnlyFans," she said. "It’s collaborations like this that make the real difference behind the scenes and keep OnlyFans a space where creators and fans feel secure and empowered."

Checkr is a multi-billion-dollar background check and public records provider used across a variety of industries. Companies that have contracted with Checkr include a variety of gig-economy platform owners, such as Lyft, Uber, Grubhub, DoorDash and Angi.

Note that OnlyFans is the only major adult platform to announce publicly, so far, a rollout of Checkr background technology.

AVN reported last month that PornHub parent Aylo will be requiring content partners on that platform to undergo background checks for criminal convictions to ensure safety.
