LifeStyles Locked in Trademark Dispute With Kim Kardashian

LOS ANGELES—LifeStyles Healthcare, the multinational condom and sexual pleasure manufacturing company, is engaged in a trademark dispute with none other than reality television star and businessperson Kim Kardashian, reports tabloid the Daily Mail. The star is attempting to trademark "SKKN," the name of her skincare line.

Attorneys for LifeStyles filed an opposition claim, arguing that SKKN infringes on the company's trademarked brand name, SKYN, its popular non-latex condom line.

AVN confirmed the assertions made in the initial report by the Daily Mail after inspecting documents obtained from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). For years, the rise of Kardashian's personal brands has been met with critical praise and controversy, especially with the launch of SKIMS in 2018.

Co-founded by Kardashian, SKIMS is a shapewear and clothing brand valued in the billions of dollars.

Building on her consumer product portfolio, SKKN BY KIM was launched in 2022. Despite the firm's short-term lifespan, SKKN BY KIM ceased operations in the summer of 2025, allowing SKIMS to acquire the actual intellectual property (IP) and relaunch the brand under its clothing company.

According to USPTO documents reviewed by AVN, Kardashian filed three applications in the summer to protect SKKN branding covering fragrances, supplements and moisturizers. However, attorneys for LifeStyles filed opposition to her applications, which were submitted via her company, Kimsaprincess Inc., due to name similarities.

LifeStyles filed for an extension to oppose the trademark applications, and the time was granted, per the documents. Note that SKKN BY KIM was ultimately acquired to consolidate Kardashian's growing consumer products empire and her own net worth, which Forbes estimates at $1.9 billion.

“My mission has always been to create products that resonate deeply—whether it’s shapewear and lingerie that empowers or make-up and skincare that transforms,” Kardashian said in a March press release announcing the SKIMS acquisition of SKKN BY KIM. "Uniting everything under the SKIMS brand streamlines that vision.”

According to reports by Inc. and The New York Times, SKIMS is now valued at a minimum of $5 billion following a successful fundraising round that raised $225 million. As LifeStyles is a private company with no publicly available market valuation, the company is regarded as the second-largest condom manufacturer in the world.

LifeStyles sells SKYN and a line of brands including Control, Manix, Blowtex and its namesake line. LifeStyles has production sites in India and Thailand.
