LOS ANGELES—Reality star and former Playboy cover girl Kim Kardashian and mom Kris Jenner have denied accusations made by Kardashian's ex, William Ray Norwood, Jr., also known as popular R&B singer Ray J, that the two of them leaked the now-notorious sex tape, Kim Kardashian, Superstar, back in 2007.
Reports from various outlets indicate that Kardashian and Jenner filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J last October in relation to claims he made against them in a 2025 TMZ documentary about rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs and on social media, saying that the mother and daughter were the subjects of a federal racketeering investigation. Ray J filed a countersuit in November 2025 alleging that Kardashian and Jenner had breached a $6 million settlement agreement into which they entered with him over the sex tape in which he appeared opposite Kardashian, and that the three parties had worked together to release the sex tape consensually.
Ray J's attorneys claim that in refuting these allegations via court documents, Kardashian is perjuring herself by way of filing a "demonstrably false" complaint.
In a sworn declaration to the court filed Tuesday by Kardashian herself, she notes that Ray J's "claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud, and file a 'fake' lawsuit against the porn company that released it to 'create buzz' is a lie. ... My family and I are not part of a criminal enterprise; we have not conducted racketeering activity, nor have we profited from racketeer activities as the defendant claims."
For nearly two decades, Kardashian has maintained that the sex tape was released without her consent.
TMZ reported at the time of the countersuit that Ray J alleges he and Kardashian produced the sex tape consensually at some point in 2003, then waited until 2006 to discuss releasing the tape, with Kardashian insisting that her mother be in charge of its commercial release.
