PARIS—Arcom, France's national digital and communications regulator, announced Wednesday that it has initiated law enforcement proceedings against 31 adult entertainment websites violating the country's sweeping SREN age verification requirements.
"Arcom has made the protection of the public, especially young people, a priority," reads a statement from the regulator. "Thus, since February 2025, 35 of the most frequently visited pornographic websites by minors in France have implemented age verification solutions, no longer offer pornographic content in France, or have been blocked at Arcom's request."
According to the agency, enforcement actions include the involvement of "various tools" provided under national and European Union law to ensure age verification compliance.
"This is Arcom's most extensive action to date in protecting minors from online pornography," the statement adds. "Arcom intends to continue its efforts to prevent the risk of consumption shifting to sites not covered by the initial measures. It also calls for an intensification of action at the European level."
The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled in favor of the French government last month in its bid to conduct age verification on foreign pornography websites on a case-by-case basis. This applies to the other member states across the continental bloc of nations.
Websites targeted by Arcom include youjizz.com, pornoplus.com, amateurporn.com and hentaicity.com, per other French-language news outlets.
