CLEVELAND - Former first-round NFL Draft pick and current Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Brady Quinn either has been punk'd or retaliated against for some gay bashing behavior in which he allegedly engaged earlier this year.
Or maybe he's just gay.
Quinn and the Browns' management denied the latter, saying although the shirtless man who appeared for several months in advertisements for the gay cruising website FindMen4Men was indeed Quinn, the quarterback is undeniably heterosexual. Quinn was unaware his image had been appropriated by the site or one of its members, and his attorney has demanded the photo be removed, according to a team statement.
A Browns representative told TMZ Quinn "was not involved in posting photos."
Speculation among online posters at various gay blogs runs toward the retaliation end of the spectrum. Emotions are still a bit tender after the Associated Press reported in January the former Notre Dame football star was among a group of men shouting slurs at gay passers-by and "trying to cause a fight" outside a Columbus, Ohio, bar in the wee hours of New Year's Day. Quinn denied involvement in the altercation, although police reports pursuant to a 911 call precipitated by the event indicate Quinn was arguing with a 32-year-old gay man when officers arrived at the scene.
Quinn was picked 22nd in the 2007 NFL Draft and subsequently signed a five-year contract with the Browns worth a reported $20.2 million with a $7.5 million guarantee. He and the rest of the Browns will begin training camp later this month.
