LOS ANGELES - Regent Entertainment has re-christened its digital GLBT media division GayWired Media. Formerly known as HIM Corp., GayWired Media operates 21 online destinations.
"This name change allows us to take advantage of HIM Corp.'s leading role as one of the most respected digital brands serving the diverse and increasingly discriminating GLBT consumer while taking an opportunity to innovate and extend the flagship brands," said Regent chief executive officer Paul Colichman. "The GayWired Media brand will allow for deeper innovation across all portals as we continue to develop new initiatives and experiences for consumers and offer advertisers richer opportunities to reach the coveted GLBT consumer directly."
Flagship portals in the GayWired Media network include GayWired, LesbiaNation, and 247gay , which provide content serving the diverse interests within GLBT culture, including entertainment, news, business information, social networking, travel, and sports. New site designs will begin appearing in early 2008, Colichman said.
Regent Entertainment and its affiliates finance, produce, and distribute award-winning theatrical and television content; the company acquired HIM Corp. in 2006. Regent's other properties include here! Networks (a multi-platform distribution company focused on critically acclaimed gay and lesbian programming), Regent Releasing (which releases independent theatrical works), Regent Theaters, and Regent Studios (an award-winning, full-service motion-picture studio).
The decade-old company produces 30 films annually and now boasts a library of more than 3,500 titles, including high-profile projects like Bill Condon's Academy Award-winning Gods and Monsters, starring Sir Ian McKellen and Brendan Fraser, and Franco Zeffirelli's Callas Forever, starring Jeremy Irons and Fanny Ardant.
