NEW YORK—CockyBoys is set to release Jake Jaxson’s Gods & Heroes, a new fantasy feature from the award-winning director behind titles including Answered Prayers, All Saints, Project Go-Go Boy and Love Happens.
Under the creative leadership of GayVN Best Director winner Jaxson, Gods & Heroes “imagines a world where the Greek gods awaken after centuries of silence only to discover a modern society that has abandoned myth, beauty, mystery and wonder in favor of a new false god: Big Tech,” a plot synopsis reads.
“I was inspired to make this feature because I find myself living in a world I no longer fully recognize, understand or even like,” Jaxson said. “We increasingly live in a culture where shame seems to have disappeared for those with power—the people making the rules, pointing fingers and rewriting history.
“But within that chaos, I began to see another possibility,” he continued. “What happens when those of us who have been labeled sinners stop carrying that shame? What happens when queer desire, imagination, excitement and sexuality are no longer treated as something broken, but instead reclaimed as sacred, ancient and divine?
“For much of history, our stories have been erased, hidden, distorted or destroyed. As a young man, one of the few places I found same-sex love and passion portrayed as natural—even heroic—was in Greek mythology. Those stories gave me a glimpse of a world where gayness belonged within beauty, history and the sacred.
“With Gods & Heroes, I wanted to return to that feeling and create a fantasy where the old gods awaken, desire becomes destiny, and gay men are no longer outside the myth. We are the heroes. We are the creators. We are divine through our audacity to be fully, beautifully and unapologetically alive,” Jaxson said.
Leading the cast is longtime CockyBoys performer and star Cade Maddox as Zeus, King of the Gods. Maddox is joined by award-winning CockyBoys exclusive Seth Cain as Hermes, Messenger of the Gods. CockyBoys alumni Kane Fox and Dom King are also featured. Fan favorite performers Oliver Carter, Zane Kazan and Hunter Graham round out the cast, with additional “surprise cast reveals” to be made after Episode One.
“I’m especially excited to reunite with Cade Maddox and Dom King, whose studio careers began with CockyBoys, and they both bring such a powerful presence to the screen,” Jaxson said. “Cade has grown into one of the defining performers of his generation, while Dom possesses that rare mythical quality—masculine, magnetic and larger than life. Bringing them together in a world of gods, heroes, temptation and transformation felt exactly right.”
Gods & Heroes will premiere Wednesday, June 24, capping off Pride Month, exclusively on CockyBoys.com.
New episodes will be released monthly through September, marking Gods & Heroes as one of Jaxson’s most ambitious feature projects to date.
