The creepy little girl with the braids takes center stage in this production.
When the school headmistress asks Wednesday (Freya von Doom) why students have disappeared after being last seen talking to her, she airily observes, "Interesting how fragile life can be. One moment, you’re here, the next ... you're not." Her doting step-parents Little Puck and Ryan Driller praise her "unique way of looking at things" but the headmistress snarls, "This isn't a game."
Wednesday reflects on her day, which started with getting fingered by family servant Thing and moved on to some girl/girl play with Claire Roos, after picking up a dildo ominously next to a roll of duct tape and a small dagger. At her Botanical Science class, Axel Haze flirts with Wednesday under the nose of his girlfriend Lily Starfire, and when the teacher heads to the nurse's office after getting too close to a Deadly Nightshade plant, they take advantage of the lack of supervision.
After Wednesday confronts the bullies (Rico Hernandez and Parker Ambrose) tormenting her brother, she confronts the headmistress with her prior relationship with her stepmother—which she rekindles, with stepdad and Wednesday joining in, before things close out on a logical, but grim, note.
Atmospheric cinematography adds a layer of depth.
