Very Dirty Dancing is a very good feature. It might have been called She's Gotta Get It, after the Spike Lee mainstreamer, but cal lit whatever you'd like, it has to qualify as one of 1988's best yet.

Val is a dancer who hungers for a partner, both in the dance world and as a significant other. She has her eye set on her instructor, well played by John Stagliano, who doubles as star and director and excels at both. John's regular partner (Porsche Lynn) is more interested in sexual than artistic endeavors. As the plot develops, we follow Val as she almost wistfully engages in several sexual combos, but somehow falls short of fulfillment. One feels for her as she continually gets involved, only to find herself the proverbial fifth wheel, and each time she comes close to getting what she thinks she wants, she backs off at the last moment until the climax, where all, of course, ends well.

I can not help being reminded of earlier erotic films where an element of tease was thrown in to make the viewer beg for a particular participant to get what he or she was seeking. The character of Val exists in all of us, and you, like I, will be rooting for her. I have been critical of Stagliano as both director and performer in the past, but in Very Dirty Dancing he lives up to all of the nice thins I had heard. A very nice, very dirty feature that should not be missed.
