Up Close lives up to its name from frame one, with a tight-verging-on-intrusive close-up of Bella Rolland. We see her chat with Robby Apples as they lie on a bed. He asks her what her birthday is and identifies it as "the third week of Cancer." The camera watches them at close range, not intruding, just recording their small talk, and things escalate slowly, carefully, no rush, enjoy the journey as well as the destination—and these are sex performers who fuck on camera for a living, so they know all the detours and side trips and know how to give directions so they can to get where they want to go instead of following the familiar oral-oral-three-positions-pop template.

Myra Moans giggles that she's looking forward to losing control to Oliver Davis—"I really like being dominated"—and Alison Rey confesses that she's nervous because she's not used to being the center of attention and she hasn't worked with her scene partner Alex Jones before.
