The kind of razor-sharp, subtly hysterical triple-X spoof that gets made entirely too rarely, Axel Braun’s This Ain’t Homeland XXX is a hell of a surprising treat that could easily have gotten overlooked if the heavyweight director’s name wasn’t attached to it.

On the surface, Showtime’s terrorism-themed drama may not seem like the most ripe source material for a porno makeover, but that in itself speaks to how much care Braun and company took to play to its fans—any of whom could attest to just how much gratuitous nudity and sex the show actually contains. In fact, a lot of the humor here will likely go right over the head of anyone who hasn’t seen the show, so take that under advisement.

Tara Lynn Foxx gets an opportunity to shine as schizoid CIA agent Carrie Mathison (the Claire Danes character on the real deal) in a way she hasn’t since Braun cast her as Dianna Agron’s Quinn Fabray in his 2010 Hustler parody This Ain’t Glee XXX. Exhibiting a genuine flair for comic timing and colorful facial expression, Foxx proves a sensational choice for Carrie, who in this version of events takes her tip-off that rescued P.O.W. Nicholas Brody (Richie Calhoun) has “turned” to mean that he’s gone gay. (OK, so that may not be the subtlest of jokes, but it bears some fairly rich payoffs regardless.)

In order to first obtain this intel, she puts her fabulous DSLs to use on the shawarma of Iraqi informant Hasan (Cyrus King), right through the bars of his cell. Later, she also uses her feminine wiles on superior David Estes (Nat Turnher displaying previously untapped thespian chops) after he calls her on the carpet for bugging Brody’s house, and on Brody himself in order to put her suspicions to the test. The latter scene is a very hot, very expertly lensed tangle in the confines of a car’s backseat. Definitely one for the go-to spank library.

Another undeniable keeper of a scene is the flashback orgy with Brody, Abu Nazir (Alec Knight) and gypsy women Jynx Maze, Brandy Aniston and Gabriella Paltrova.

Even if you’re not familiar with Homeland, this movie offers riches in stroke value alone. But if you are, it also earns its stars as one of the very best porn parodies of 2013.
