If any news story plot is being done to death by the adult video film industry right now, it must the televangelist sex scandals, followed closely by Wall Street "exposes." There are a lot of "miners" working the "Holy War" vein right now, but director Henri Pachard, as usual, comes up with a fresh look with his Final Taboo.
Not to be confused with the long running incest series, Final Taboo looks at the immoral majority that many of today's TV preachers seem to belong to. Men of the cloth John Leslie and Robert Bullock are involved in a battle for power that includes video blackmail of their trysts with some female followers, while Leslie's wife (Ona Zee), and Bullock's (Alicia Monet) have found solace with other men (F.M. Bradley and Randy Spears respectively). Thanks to the help of madame Veronica Hart (who unfortunately, is not in any love scene), both men get what they want . . . and much more.
All of the typical Pachard touches are here: top-notch production values and sets, a large (14 credited roles !) cast, and exotic sex scenes accompanied by some rough language (they may be aroused, but Pachard's couples rarely seem affectionate). Highlights include encounter with Rev. Leslie (who also appears to have a shoe fetish), and a scene where handcuffed Bullock must watch Monet and Spears. It's quite possible that no screenwriter can come up with a story as wild as what's really happened to the electronic Elmer Gantrys, but The Final Taboo is a tale that will stand up on it's own. Hallelujah! Accompanied by effective promotional campaign.
