DaViD Entertainment continues to fill a niche in adult video that's necessary for the genre to successfully expand into the brave new world of adult DVD. With the rights to a huge library of highly-rated porn, from companies like VCA, Plum, Video Team, In-X-Cess and others, expect DaViD to become one of the major releasers of adult DVDs in the world, much as affiliated company Laserdisk Entertainment was the premiere producer of adult laserdiscs.

The latest offerings from DaViD include The Temple of Poon (reviewed in our June '96 issue), Jim Holliday's Candy Factory (August '95) and Reality & Fantasy (June '95) (with Mindshadows (June '93) arriving too late to be included in this issue). Each DVD has excellent picture quality, significantly better than the videotape could provide. The scan-forward and -backward functions work well, ans still-frame shows only minimal blurring. Each disc is divided into nine chapters, with instant access to each through the on-screen menu. Just press the button corresponding to the chapter number and you're taken there immediately. (An earlier problem with chapter buttons on Candy Factory has been repaired.) Other menu items include complete cast lists, and previews of other DaViD DVDs.

If your store currently stocks adult DVDs, or you're planning to do so, DaViD's rapidly-growing catalog of discs should be among your selections.
