Jason Kane's well-paced digital editing is the star of this show - way more creative than the professional copulation routines it frames. He takes typical porno drivel and transforms it into something whimsical, in a Dada-lite kind of way. The source material Mitch Spinelli weaves out of his interviews with these four "co-eds" reflects his own dry wit. Their body of knowledge is tested on topics ranging from virgin sacrifices to the legend of the Wandering Jew.
After establishing their least attractive assets, Spinelli's cast proves that they have indeed been taking notes in bedroom philosophy, not just doing their nails. Sophie's deep throat homework was completed on time, while Shayla and Jeanie put together a startling group project on the mating life of lesbians.
Too often art stops at sex. But the lesbian coupling is enriched with subdued illumination that is a sensual relief from Spinelli's tendency to overdo things with harsh, raking light.
SSR Music's soundtrack is notable, too, in that it sets pace and mood.
