Guess what sports fans? This is an actual sequel —one that begins where the original left off. John Leslie, mourning the loss of his protege (Shauna Grant in the original), decides that if he can do it once, he can do it again. He finds his superstar in beautiful Traci Lords, loses her as he did in the first movie, but gets his star in the end.

The problem I faced watching Suzie Superstar II was the feeling of masculine deja vu. John Leslie, Ron Jeremy and Joey Silvera reprise the characters created in Suzie Superstar, sort of the three dwarfs, Sleazy, Dopey and Lonesome. Leslie gets girls in spite of himself, Jeremy gets some leftovers and when Silvera strums his guitar, the girls want to strum his you-know-what. It's the same exact thing as in the first film.

The smartest thing director Robert McCallum has done is to hire ginger Lynn and tone her down to exude the innocence and freshness that she has, which is, when properly exploited, so much like the late Shauna Grant. She's still one of the most dynamic forces in sex films, and her ending scene with John Leslie amply displays this. Ginger should be the love goddess of the 80's and if she is smart and chooses quality over quantity, thre's no telling how far she can go.

And of course, Traci Lords exudes that same kind of innocence, but not without overwhelming passion, as in her ultra-erotic, screaming and squealing scene with Leslie. In fact, most of the sex here is great, even if the story is mostly familiar. The locations and production value are nice and the songs aren't bad (even if the lip-synching is off). Suzzie Superstar II, with its beautiful superstar cast, should be one of the huge video hits of 1986.
