Reviews

Angst, sex fantasies, and a bad tap dancing act revolve inside death row prisoner Tom Byron's delusional head; like a roulette wheel where you never know which slot the ball will find. One minute he's on the beach in a three-way with Sierra and Taylor Wane; the next he's being incited to jealousy by "Pinkster", a dancing, tuxedoed mystery man (Tony Tedeschi) who bangs his wife (Madison) just out of reach.

Starting to make sense? If so, you'd better check yourself into the happy house for a weekend. Unlike, say, a Michael Ninn or a Rinse Dream video, Surfer Girl has no sustainable dream logic, nor is it a technical tour-de-force – just a collection of wanna-be-weird flashbacks, hallucinations, and annoyingly despondent whining by Byron. The sex fares slightly better than the premise, mainly due to Madison's enthusiasm. (She also gets in a good one with Jake Williams.) Unfortunately, two very mechanical sequences involving Byron and Alicia Rio, and the girl/girler with Trinity Loren and Chaz Vincent, slow the pace. (Considering Trinity Loren's status, this one's been in the vault for some time. Another year and it could have been a decent cabernet, instead of the aged cheese that it occasionally is.)
