The debut videocassette of VCX’s new Men’s Video Magazine (MVM) is an hour-long collection of short, voyeuristic episodes.  No stranger to the adult entertainment world, VCX shows overall technical competence with this tape.  Kudos to the sound technicians who provided an innovative soundtrack in stereo.

A successful soft-porn experience must feature a beautiful cast, and MVM triumphs with stunning personnel, especially centerfold performer Adrienne Nandory.

A shortcoming, however, is the overuse of special effects. Particularly disturbing is the saturation of “negative imagery” cinematography and a tendency to go overboard with soft-focus, a la Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione.  At the center of the magazine, host Vince Gardner interviews the articulate Kay Parker, who discusses both her role in Taboo, and trends within the realm of adult entertainment.

VCX is taking a gamble by launching MVM into direct competition with established series like Playboy Video and Electric Blue.  But it is this reviewer’s opinion that if subsequent tapes are of the same caliber, the odds of MVM attaining success are very likely.
