The devil, legend tells us, needs a virgin bride. This time, he sends out a stud to seduce some likely babes to find one. Since the seduction stops short of consummation, the devil is thoughtful enough to send a female minion, the sensual, athletic, and appropriately-named Cat (busty brunette Shannon Leod), to tend to the needs of stud Jonathan (Craig Stepp). Both the seduction of knockout blonde Stephania Swinney and the compensatory romps with leopard-lingeried Cat show plenty of skin. When the "virgin" candidates fall short of purity, they are discarded, with pentacles carved in their thighs, arousing the interest of the doltish cops.

Realizing they're over their heads in the occult, the cops consult divorce lawyer/psychic expert (now there's a combination to daunt Arnie Becker) Jerry Spicer, hero of previous Witchcraft outings. Spicer again comes equipped with gorgeous lady friend (Debra Beatty, a sultry, heavy-breasted brunette, with Brooke Shields eyebrows and a come-hither look), whose main preoccupation, happily, is bathing, and having sex in the tub. One Spicer/Beatty rub-a-dub is cut short of consummation by Spicer, who is tormented by flashbacks and devil-induced psychic visions of choking Debra and trying to drown her. When you sleep with an occult expert, this is mere foreplay. As the Witchcraft series has progressed, Academy has pushed the envelope on the sexual/sensual content, showcasing some truly gorgeous women, and we applaud this. While the plotline of this outing is simple, the focus is a bit muddled; is it on the cops, on Spicer's character, on the devil and his sexy cohorts, or what? The acting is fine, with kudos especially to Bryan Nutter's urbanely creepy white-suited Tom Wolfe-manque Savanti devil; fine special effects, particularly the makeup effects; and one hilarious sequence where the cops consult a string of phony psychics, using one cop's wife's bra as a "clue". As a movie, if you're into the occult-thriller genre, this is a well-done hit-or-miss, but the focus ends up being on the sensual elements, and there Witchcraft 6 scores top marks. Put on a wreath of garlic and check it out.
