A fanciful look behind the scenes at a most unorthodox ballet academy.

"One failed ballet audition too many left me with no choice: I needed to start from scratch," says Florence (Clea Gaultier) in voiceover. "I'd heard of a place that might help me find what I'd lost and didn't play by the rules. I figured I'll fit right in."

The five scenes are linked to the five classic ballet positions. Olivier (Jesus Reyes) is placed in First Position by Alicia (Kali Sudhra), with the agreement that if he could hold the position without moving, "he could have her any way he'd like. If he failed, she'd have him her way," Florence explains, before admitting, "It was always going to be her way." Her way involves cuffing his hands together and lacing him up with black ropes before a quiet but intense fuck, with his hands consensually freed before the penetration starts.

Florence and Maya (Julia de Lucia) illustrate Second Position ("A bit like First, but more ... open") at a freestanding barre in the middle of a room. "I thought I was way above working with strippers, but watching Maya, I could see she was a real artist," Florence says. "We could definitely teach each other a thing or two." Maya teaches Florence hair flips, hip swings, humping moves, and artistic ways to remove clothing. Impressed with Florence's progress, Maya rewards her with a kiss—and then some—in an AVN Award nominated girl/girl scene.

Daniela (Amber Nevada) "had no problem changing positions," Florence tells us as we slide into Third. "She was looking to take her passion for aerobics to the next level, to become a real dancer." Fredo (Juan Lucho), having failed at ballet, was looking at contemporary dance. They start doing aerobic exercises, and Florence tells us that "in her mind, there was only one way to complete a full body workout."

Fourth Position is the setup for a pirouette, so "it's vital that it makes you feel safe." Cecilia and Max (Sicilia, Emilio Ardana) are practicing alone in a basement and "being surrounded by free-spirited singles was beginning to get to them," Florence says. Their dance practice gets more sensual as they warm up: First she takes off the sweater, then the leotard.

Fifth Position is the hardest, Florence tells us. "It can take a while to get used to. I'd been here a month ... now I was performing for the first time." Florence demonstrates what she's learned, with stripper moves interspersed with classic ballet, impressing Sylvan (Anthony Gaultier) and realizing, "I had not only found the passion I lost, I'd found ... myself." And she celebrates her successful artistic breakthrough with Sylvan.

Clever premise, stylish dialogue-less scenes featuring artistic lighting and jazzy music intros (no saxophones or bow-chikka-bow-wow guitars) and impromptu casual Euro-sex add up to make Positions a good choice for couples and tentative newbies.
