At a reading of her latest book, romance novelist Jet Setting Jasmine says, "I want to write these creative characters that have mutually respectful relationships that I long to see in media. It was really hard to find confident women characters that look like me, that I could aspire to be. So I wrote them into existence." Writing them into existence is getting tougher as she faces perimenopause with the attendant hot flashes and difficulty concentrating, and when she tells her friends about her escape from the reading ("I was burning up ... I was having a literal atomic bomb go off in my body") she collides with hunky Tony Genius, who slips her his number ("You forgot something") before leaving.

Over drinks with Genius, she finds he's a broker and part-time actor before they act on their mutual attraction in the restaurant bathroom. The three wind up discussing relaxation and creativity on a bed, leading to a permission-grounded three-way ("Is it okay if we take off your dress?") that she later describes to her friends as "a fun, sexy time was had by all, and I was able to stay calm and present the whole time." This leads her to hook up with old flame King Noire and, unblocked, she finishes off the historical sex scene she was having trouble writing—with Nicole Kitt and Andre Stone acting it out as fast as she can type it.
