Shot on location in Paris, Mimi is a love story about an American girl who goes to France to be cultured but winds up falling in love. It's a classic tale, told before, but writers Mark Weiss and Patti Rhodes deliver a less than solid plot, which, combined with some rather meaningless sex, comes across as ambitious, but average. The French cast (who are all gorgeous) give the video some authenticity and provide some new faces to the home sex viewer.
Porsche Lynn plays Mimi, the American niece of Paulette (Lisa Berenger), a stuffy French madam who must show her relative from across the ocean the proper behavior for a young lady. Berenger (in a strictly non-sexual role) enlists the help of Baron Phillipe de Rothsfield (Paul Thomas), who is smitten by Lynn's charm (and passion) and falls madly in love. The ensuing drama of love/deceit/proposal fails to maintain continuity between rather standard sex scenes. Worthy of merit, however, is the blonde maid. This French vixen (who dresses like a whore when she's working) is cute, and has a body that she shares with just about everybody in the tape. Also, the mild S&M scene between two French stars is a somewhat rough-and-tumble tryst—complete with anal penetration and ensuing facial wet shot—that's worth a look.
Caballero should be commended for such an ambitious production as Mimi. However, there are signs of scrimping. If director Rhodes had more time, she might have been able to get a little more characterization and feeling out of her cast. As it stands, the drama seems rushed and some of the sex scenes appear thrown in for good measure. Still, couples may enjoy Mimi, but it's a near miss from being a truly good video.
