"Thank you for letting me stay with you," Ivy Wolfe tells Zac Wild on the cell phone. "It's only for a couple of weeks." Wild's reaction is negative, but Wolfe sets up a nonstop barrage of objections and Wild gives in. She's even brought flowers and a bottle of wine to Wild's remote house. When she gets ready to open the wine, Wild stops her: "I quit drinking last year."

There seems to be friction between Wolfe and Wild's out-of-town wife Jessa Rhodes: "Jess is a sweet girl. She forgives you, but she has a hard time forgetting," Wild tells her. Wolfe makes dinner, and zeroes in on Wild, making awkward small talk and drawing him in. Wild turns in early, and in bed he reflects on a previous seductive encounter with Wolfe and the argument with Rhodes afterwards: "She doesn’t have to stay here with us anymore. I can quit drinking. We don’t have to see her ever again."

The next morning, things get complicated when Rhodes comes back unexpectedly and Wild tries to quick-hustle her out but it doesn’t work. Rhodes is mightily pissed off that Wolfe is here, but Wild reassures her that he loves only her, his wife. When Rhodes is called away on an emergency, Wolfe is quick to reassure him: "You'll miss her so much." Wolfe announces that she's going to become a host at a nearby restaurant and she's moving out tomorrow, because the restaurant owner has an apartment she can rent. When Wild says maybe that isn't a good idea, renting from her boss, Wolfe says she can handle it. Then she starts reminiscing about their childhood, leading to Wolfe asking if she can sit on Wild's lap. He says no.

She does anyway. 

The tension and the drama between Wolfe and Wild ratchet up until things reach a breaking point.

Stylistically eye-catching, with expressive lighting and ultra-close-up images that bore right into the characters' heads. Scenes are built with dialogue that resonates with things untold and end with abrupt blackouts instead of fades or dissolves. Performances are superlative across the board. DVD also includes as a "bonus scene" fantastical featurette The Portal, originally released late last year on MissaX.com. Recommended.
