This ambitious Japanese blending of science fiction and sex is devoid of nearly every porn convention or cliché; instead, there's an almost overwhelming profusion of visual detail and digital effects. Despite the lack of traditional sex scenes, this feature pushes the boundaries of what porn can do. This is the bleeding edge of artcore.
The dialog is mixed Japanese and English, with no dubbing and no subtitles. The plot makes deliberate reference to the sci-fi classic Bladerunner. Reiko is an android able to take seven different female forms and assigned to collect orgasm data from whomever she can fuck, male or female or other. All hardcore penetration is obscured due to Japanese restrictions on content, but what we can see is super-hot. (Note that there's also one male/male sex scene that might alienate some viewers.)
The ambition and technical accomplishment of this unique feature deserve to be recognized with a host of nominations: Best Special Effects, Best Videography, Best Art Direction and Best Asian, if not Best Feature.
Let's be honest; IKU is not going to be to everyone's tastes. But those seeking a high-class mix of science fiction, sex and edgy style will find nothing better.
