Ivy league-educated sex therapist Dr. Susan Block incites controversy with her unconventional, uninhibited way of administering advice to those who call in with tales of their sexual woes. This content of this creative, colorfully edited video from her popular, highly-rated cable TV show is far removed from the old images that come to mind when one associates the word "therapist" with the image of an old bearded geezer taking notes while the patient reclines on an overstuffed couch, recounting his or her childhood traumas. That antiquated image is an entire universe apart from Dr. Block's set: a comfortable, softly-lit room, laden with fluffy pillows, with couples lounging about, arm in arm with each other, as Block encourages them to give in to their sexuality... to revel in it. And yes, masturbation is also heartily encouraged, as evidenced by the abundance of dildos and vibrators passed around like a candy dish at a party.
Dr. Block cavorts on a bed, as a fetish-clad woman runs an ostrich feather across Block's skin. Block teasingly asks a caller why they feel the need to use a power vacuum as a would-be b.j. device, instead of their girlfriend's own mouth, to the laughter of the audience. Dealing with a variety of erotic topics, Block's easy-going, playful demeanor puts all at ease. Men may very well be from Mars, and it's entirely possible that women are from Venus, but while we must cohabitate here on Earth, Dr. Susie presents simple, inventive and informative ways to help us all get along nicely.
