Phil (Paul Thomas) is a private investigator who calls upon his good friend Johnny (also a private dick) for his expertise in solving a perplexing case. Phil flies into San Francisco for assistance only to discover that his pal has been killed. Since the circumstances surrounding his death were more than suspicious, Phil vows to unravel the case and to hunt down Johnny's murderer.

Armed with only devotion, Phil tracks his suspect through the streets of San Francisco to the smoke-filled jazz clubs. He questions the artsy fartsy clique that Johnny hung around with and skillfully pumps several women for information. His search is relentless but alas, good always triumphs over evil… or does it?

If Jim Rockford or Magnum P.I. operated as smoothly as this guy Phil, their one-hour series would have to be cut in half.

Dream Girl seems to be a film from the early to mid-seventies, (apparent from the clothing and hair styles.) The sex is quite basic, nothing out of the ordinary, the girls are acceptable and the plot almost predictable. I still don't see where the cassette box or the title has anything to do with the story.
