Surely the most amusing thing about this DVD is the menu. We're not talking about its graphics, just the fact that it contains a "Play Feature" button. Dr. Christina is anything but a feature – it's a silent Parisian travelogue interspersed with unconnected hardcore sex scenes. Neither aspect is, by today's standards, competent.
While Digard aimlessly wanders around Paris tourist spots, her voiceover informs us that she's a sex therapist on assignment to write an article in the City of Lights. Mon Dieu, she has the most incredible luck! Every time she opens the door to an appointment, the people across the room are fucking in plain view. Uschi stands there and watches, then moves on.
What Dr. Christina really amounts to is about 60 percent of the movie being comprised of handheld exterior shots with bad narration (example: "the intense passion of these young love sprites was intoxicating") and 40 percent of even less appealing porn loops (clearly shot elsewhere; probably another continent). The featurette contains more of the same. Minus Paris. Oh, the fun is non-stop.
An interview with the director reveals a wealth of information: Nick "Philips" Millard is worse than a hack, he's a pretentious hack! As if his constant references to Goddard and New Wave cinema aren't enough to drive viewers crazy, the guy sports a scarf. Not a silk cravat that European favor – just a dopey woolen winter scarf! The print is awfully beat-up, too.
Retailing: For Digard fans or older customers who have a myopic preoccupation with late 60s nostalgia.
