Anyone who watches tapes, adult or otherwise, and wonders what role a producer plays in creating the final product should look no further than Jerome Tanner. In collaboration with director John T. Bone he has given us such exemplary works of eroticism as the Oral Majority series and The Bride, and his latest entry, Deep Obsession, contains all the Tanner hallmarks; top-notch production values, innovative sound and lighting, and some of the steamiest, rawest sex available.
Obsession starts out with a 20's "courting song" leading us into a marathon encounter between lovers Hershel Savage and Rene Summers. Before they get too serious, Hershel wants Summers to experience every sexual variation around, so she can be certain he's for her (who says true love is dead?). To that end, she becomes a spectator in Rachel Ryan's hi-tech bordello and witnesses a seemingly endless array of twosomes, threesomes and hard-to-tell-how-many-somes between men, women, and those in the process of changing buses (if you know what I mean, and I think you do).
Those on limited budget could learn a lesson from Tanner and crew, who manage to create an unearthly atmosphere with some fog, a couple of stepladders and a used OB/GYN table. Everything about the feature draws the viewer into the on-screen action, and before long we're hooked just as surely as Summers. If you're looking for a slickly-made feature that's "all meat, no filler," look no further than Deep Obsession.
