Joanna Angel literally steps out of her comfort zone with this feature, the first she’s ever made for a company other than her own … and her first dip of a toe into the solemn waters of straight drama. Aided by a terrifically strong cast—all Penthouse Pets, outside of Angel herself—the alt porn pioneer does a respectable if a tad rough-around-the-edges job of navigating this decidedly more conventional territory.
The title is squarely on the nose: Riley Nixon plays a diligent college student who gets led astray by bad girl Angel, frontwoman of a band called The Fuckfaces. Explaining that she sometimes audits college courses (“It’s like I steal school”), Angel latches onto Nixon and soon begins goading her into all kinds of delinquent behavior, including fucking one of her professors (Tommy Gunn) in exchange for an extension on a paper.
None of this sits very well with Nixon’s mom, played (with some suspension of disbelief required on the part of the viewer) by Ryan Keely, under whose roof Nixon still lives. Keely’s disdain for Angel over her ruinous ways turns, in an unlikely twist, into begrudging lust after they meet and Angel antagonistically seduces her.
Following that, there’s a boisterous g/g/b scene between Nixon, Angel and the latter’s real-life husband Small Hands, which includes anal by both girls. The sexual diamond piece of the movie, however, is the stupendous midway lez-cursion with Gina Valentina and two-time AVN All-Girl Performer of the Year Jenna Sativa.
While this is undeniably a drama, Angel plays most of it pretty light, having fun with her reprobate character and turning the meter to full-on serious sparingly. Watching her stretch her movie-making muscles like this is compelling, and we look forward to seeing what she does with them next.
