Cinderella 2000 is a futuristic take on the classic Cinderella fairy tale, as seen through the eyes of the freewheeling ?70s. In this take-off, Big Brother bans books and puts the kaboosh on "unauthorized" sex, using robots to spy on people. One young, sweet, pretty, oppressed girl, who is forced to cook and clean and keep house for her wicked step mother and step sisters, comes across her fairy godfather, and together they bring redemption to the whole society (as well as bringing her and the man she loves together.
It's ridiculously campy fun, complete with singing, choreographed dancing, bunny suits, robot suits, outrageous outfits and over-the-top antics. We literally shrieked with laughter.
As for the sex, it's all simulated, sadly, though there's some nice nudity with attractive girls. But it's such a hoot that golden age lovers will forgive the faltering heat.
Retailing: Outrageous ?70s fun.
