This was a lousy movie when it was released on video, and frankly, the DVD release hasn't helped any. In fact, it might have made matters worse: The plot is still hopelessly muddled, the acting still extremely poor, and the digital transfer displays — for the first time — all the flaws present in the video master which the low-res 1/2-inch videotape helped to mask. Breeders was a study in a director overreaching his financial grasp, and the DVD release only highlights that fact.
