Highly melodramatic tale of two young teens who spend a summer together with their families, only to fall in love with each other. There's high drama (one teen was institutionalized for being gay) and high conflict (a nasty bigoted acquaintance throws out a few mean homophobic zingers) but just when the main conflict of the piece starts (the families discovering each boy's homosexuality and love for the other), everything is resolved and tied up with a neat little ribbon. Everyone loves each other and that's all that's important. And that's great - it's just not realistic. There should have been more discussion with these gay youths - because as soon as their summer is over, it's back to real life and real life will not be as kind as this movie was.
The video also features extensive cast and crew interviews after the 78-minute tape is over.
