The ascent of a porn star to the heights of the industry and her fall from grace makes for a tasty plotline to the well-acted and often sexy Gia: Portrait of a Pornstar, a star vehicle for the gorgeous Sunny Leone under her own imprint. Solidly contructed and with at least two astonishing sex scenes between Leone and Tori Black, this is a stop-notch feature with sparkling production values.

A two-disc set (the second with ample extras) that includes an option to play just the sex scenes and skip the story, Gia marks Sunny Leone’s best acting effort to date, as she plays it just right, never going over the top but showing a true range of emotions. Other good performances from Tori Black, Herschel Savage and a range of non-sex interviewees who help tell the story documentary style (Ron Jeremy, Janine Lindemulder, Mark Kernes, Jim Powers, etc.) give the movie the feeling of big-budget production.

In addition to her great scenes with Tori, sparks fly when Sunny goes down on Monica Mayhem. She blows then fucks Ariel King, who plays her love interest; blonde Breanne Benson nails Bill Bailey; and Lexi Belle has a sexy tryst with Dale DaBone, all high quality sex scenes.

The screenplay sometimes devolves into porn clichés, but still contains plenty of dialogue that rings true. Solid production values, eight sex scenes and that extra disc make this a value-packed feature with plenty for Sunny Leone’s fans to get off on.
