Man oh man, how far this porno thing has come ... gone are the days when some Ed Wood-grade set design, shoddy camerawork and stiff-as-cardboard dialogue delivery were par for the course in a XXX feature. In these new times, if your movie doesn't look like, sound like and feel like a dyed-in-the-wool Hollywood production, you had better up your game, and fast.
Just take a glance at the opening minute or so of The Sex Files 2, in which a slow pan reveals Eddie Adams tied to a chair in a barren cell, moments later getting attacked by a man whose eyes turn black when he enters and who immediately after the attack gets disintegrated with a device wielded by Lee Stone made up as a bizarre alien figure with a sort of melted face. Supposing you didn't already know any better, ask yourself whether you'd have any idea this wasn't an actual episode of The X-Files had you happened across it flipping through the TV channels. The craftsmanship of it is so impeccable, so cinematic-looking, from the lighting to the composition to the editing and so on, we'd bet good money the answer to that question would be "no."
Truly, as good as the first Sex Files was (good enough to lay claim to AVN's first-ever Best Parody trophy last January), this one surpasses it. It's more engrossing, more thrilling, better paced and filled with even hotter sex.
To answer the most glaring question first, yes, Mulder and Scully knock boots again (albeit in the context of a Scully masturbation fantasy) ... only this time, Mulder gets to cruise her back causeway.
As in the first installment, Mulder's porn watching predilection provides for the insertion of a sizzling girl/girl scene, in this case between April O'Neil and Bree Daniels. There's also a literally rocking boy/girl—set in the back of a van—toward the beginning, with Rocco Reed and a blonde Dani Jensen. And later, we get a very solid bout between India Summer and Eric John, as well as a three-way with Bobbi Starr, Nikki Benz and Ramon Nomar that's every bit as good as the meeting of that trio promises.
Aside from the outstanding technical and sexual strength of this production, as well as its immense entertainment value for X-Files fans and the unacquainted alike, it also happens to serve as somewhat of an ultimate feast for the former, bringing in virtually every remaining celebrated character—namely, Alex Krycek (Reed), Cancer Man (John) and the Lone Gunmen (Jay Crew, Chad Alva and Michael Vegas in non-sex roles).
Sex Files 2 reaches a bar once unimagined for an adult movie. Forget believing ... the New Porno has officially arrived.
