This documentary from Slovenian director Drazen Stader offers a humanizing glimpse behind the scenes of Japan's porn industry. The climactic performance on a live cable call-in show is captured in perfect fly-on-the-wall style that makes the viewer feel like a member of the crew, and interviews with the producer, director and star come across like they're sharing their stories with the viewer on a personal level.
The sex isn't hardcore, but Makoto Hazuki is adorable and very enthusiastic in fulfilling the requests of horny viewers. In fact, the requirement to hide pubic hair on TV figures into the story (hence no penetration shots), and we also get to watch classic backstage moments, such as "negotiating the (fake) pop shot" and "everybody laughs at the horny old cameraman." In the end, novice director Shinaya Ono confesses that what he really wants is "normal sex with love," while starlet Hazuki admits she's "not sexually sensitive" and just needs the money. Japanese with English subtitles.
