Young Turk director Eon McKai's second title is an audacious, visually striking breath of fresh air that unfortunately is stifled by generally heatless sex scenes.

From the opening, eye-popping production company montage to the intentionally grainy videography, to black and white cutaway images (including almost subliminal "Kill Girl" flashing messages) reminiscent of '60s underground film to the violence of sledgehammers smashing TV sets (interspersed with the sex) to edgy ambient/techno music, Kill Girl Kill oozes style and then some. It's sort of the porn version of punk rock, populated, appropriately enough mostly by heavily tattooed, pierced, not traditionally gorgeous riot/goth/vampire/whatever girls. Like fellow enfant terrible Jack the Zipper, McKai has a highly distinctive directorial vision for sure.

The five sex scenes he helmed - four boy/girl couplings and one b/g/g - are another thing, stylish, yes, but wank-challenged.

Some, like the Veronica Jett/Kurt Lockwood opener, are hard-edged and well energized, but somehow flat nonetheless. Others, like the Brooklyn/peach fuzzed guy pairing are boilerplate. The Zoe Matthews/some dude closer, meanwhile, is all but DOA, playing at times like a static silent film. And no, the girls are hardly the furious, man-eating fuck beasts that the title implies.

Girls kill with sex? Sorry, not here they don't. As arresting as it looks, their screwing simply doesn't, well, slay.
