Reviews

Writer/director Mystery Man's ambitious tale of bondage and sorcery is a worthwhile view for the dungeons-and-dragons sect. Starring as the good knight on a quest to quell Evil in the East (wax-dripping Devin DeMoore), Man is joined by a "Catkin" sorceress (D'Arby), whose cat-like nature is to curiously explore haplessly bound wenches before freeing them.

D'Arby is almost purrfect as she untangles and teases, but her girl-on-girl heroics seem somewhat restrained. Other controlling scenes feature beautiful damsels (including a whipped and faux-blood smeared Kiki D'Aire), who scream out painfully while subjugated to restraints and floggings by hooded masters and green-faced goblins.

Man's story meanders more than his character's trek (How did D'Arby end up bound in that shallow grave? Why is the hero killed by DeMoore's dark knight?), and leaves several unanswered questions in this "to be continued" affair. Regardless, Jo Sef's make-up, Julie Simone's costumes, Dan Robert's computerized special effects, Bip's outdoor videography and a host of special DVD features (behind the scenes, interviews, stills) combine to make this an entertaining knight's tale.
